Vigo County Courthouse dome to be repainted

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Vigo County Courthouse dome is expected to have a new paint look later this week.

Earlier this year, a number of projects in the city of Terre Haute were approved to receive American Rescue Plan Act funding.

One of those projects being repainting the county’s courthouse dome.

Last week, the dome was pressure washed in preparation for painting. And the painting of the dome is set to happen this week.

Vigo County Commissioner Marc Clinkenbeard says it’s been 10 years since the dome was last refinished, and county commissioners began requesting ARPA funds for the courthouse dome back in February.

“Started power washing that last week, they’ll be painting it this week. And that was ARPA funds also., things like that we’ve tried to target one-time expenses to help with the rest of the budget.”

Clinkenbeard also states it’s nice to see maintenance projects getting done around the community.
