TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The Vigo County School Corporation Board of Trustees announced a new communication software for the district.

It happened Monday at a board meeting. Parent Square is a software, that will allow parents, schools, and teachers to use one application for all communications needs. This free app will allow parents to check the school calendar and talk directly with teachers. It will also give schools the opportunity to communicate directly with bus riders and their families.

“Our community has been asking for better communication, more communication, and more transparency from the school corporation and from our board,” Katie Shane VCSC Chief Communications Officer said. “This is just one of those many steps that we’re taking to be able to do that.”

Also, at Monday’s meeting, the board gave an update on the new A-C unit to be put in Terre Town Elementary School as well. Last school year, many concerns were raised about outdated HVAC systems, in some schools around the district.

Monday, Deputy Superintendent, John Newport says that the original chiller, planned for Terre Town, was too small and that two new chillers are being spec’d for the school. He added that the project is still on schedule and will be installed this winter.
