TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— The THCB will be performing a free show at Fairbanks Park in honor of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

On Saturday, July 27, at 8 p.m. The Terre Haute Community Band will be putting on their show titled Let the Games Begin. This will be their show to celebrate the opening of the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Olympics is often associated with music either through the opening or closing ceremonies, gymnastics routines or other games. Several composers have even written music just to announce their country’s athletes. Famous film and television composer John Williams has even written four compositions just for the Olympics. One of which named “Summon the Heroes” which was used in previous telecasts of the games will be performed at the show. As a nod to Paris the group will also be playing the “Marche Militaire Francaise” by Rossini. Sticking with the international theme composers from all over will be represented from Austria, the United States, Australia, Argentina, Italy, and England.
