    Funeral services announced for Sheriff John Plasse

    TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The public is invited to pay their respects to Sheriff John Plasse during a public visitation and procession.

    Sheriff Plasse’s death was announced on Wednesday, he was 60-years-old, his death came at the end of a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

    The Sheriff’s Office announced the details of the funeral service and visitation planned for Monday.

    A public visitation will be held at Hulman Center in Terre Haute on Monday from noon to 2 p.m., funeral services will also be open to the public and will follow the visitation. Vigo County Commissioners have announced that county offices will close at 11:30 a.m. on Monday to allow employees to attend the visitation and funeral.

    Sheriff Plasse’s family has asked that the graveside services remain private. A procession route will be announced soon.

    For those unable to attend, or who wish to pay their respects earlier, a memorial has been set up in front of the sheriff’s office at 600 W. Honey Creek Drive. The memorial consists of a framed portrait of Sheriff Plasse next to his grey truck with a black wreath attached to the front.
