TETERBORO, NJ - The Animal Protection League of NJ (APLNJ) is planning a second protest at Teterboro Airport about the gassing of Canada geese at Teterboro Airport on Saturday afternoon.
The group, based in Glen Gardner, Hunterdon County, held the first protest on June 1, where 12 members stood along the busy intersection of Route 46 and Industrial Avenue with signs. Members came from around Bergen County and as far away as Sussex County and upstate New York. Members held signs, waved at drivers, encouraging them to honk for the geese. The Moonachie Police and Port Authority Police were on hand to provide safety.
The group wants "to bring awareness to the public about what's going on at the airport, because it's been going on for decades."
Angi Metler, Executive Director, said the group has been working with Senator Cory Booker's office, and that he was "very open" to discussing the issue. (TAPinto reached out several times to the Senator's office and has not received a response.)
The group recommends the airport implement Robin Radar, a bird radar detection system, and Flight Turf, which is a grass seed mix and turf management process to deter wildlife, and develop a comprehensive nonlethal program.
