Parts of East Idaho experienced some wild weather Monday evening, including thunderstorms and high winds that downed large trees in Blackfoot and north Pocatello. Burn ban issued for Celebration Park in Canyon County
Canyon County’s Parks, Cultural & Natural Resources Department has issued a fire ban for Celebration Park, effective until further notice. The ban went into effect Monday and applies to campfires, fires in designated fire pits or portable fire pits, pallet fires, rock ring fires and charcoal grills, according to a Canyon County news release. Propane camp stoves will still be allowed while the ban is in effect, the release says. Extreme fire danger persists at Martin’s Landing Campground, prompting the county to impose the burn ban. Violators will be cited, the release says.

IDAHO FALLS — New details have been released describing what police say happened minutes before a man was shot multiple times in downtown Idaho Falls. Logan Stephens, 23, has been charged with felony aggravated battery and an enhancement for using a firearm as a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.
Moscow Police Department Participates in Statewide Impaired Driving Mobilization
This Independence Day, the Moscow Police Department is teaming up with the Idaho Transportation Department’s Office of Highway Safety (OHS) to prevent impaired driving. July 3rd – 10th, law enforcement agencies statewide will dedicate resources to stop drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The 4th of July travel period comes during the 100 Deadliest Days on Idaho roads, between Memorial Day and Labor Day. According to OHS data, 31 people have been killed in crashes in Idaho since Memorial Day this year.

Blackfoot man dies by suicide after crash into power pole that started fire
BLACKFOOT — A coroner has ruled that a man died by suicide following a car crash Thursday night. Authorities responded to the wreck at 1100 West at 480 North, outside Blackfoot around 5 p.m. A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado was heading southbound when it crashed into a power pole, injuring two of the three occupants.
