TEUTOLPOLIS, Ill. (WCIA) — On Friday, the Teutopolis Volleyball Team is hosting a benefit to honor three young girls who died in a UTV accident last week.

On July 11, the girls were traveling in a UTV when police said they ran a stop sign and struck the front of a grain hauler. The accident led to the deaths of 14-year-old Edie Wittenberg from Strasburg, 13-year-old Karly Wetherall from Stewardson, and 14-year-old Sienna Bostedo from Mode.

The three teens were incoming freshmen at Stew-Stras High School in Shelby County, where a public visitation was held earlier this week.

Now, the Teutopolis Volleyball Team is holding a memorial fundraiser for their families. Meals will be served at the Teutopolis Banquet Hall on Friday, July 19 from 4-7 p.m.

Attendees will have a choice of pork burgers, hamburgers, or brats for the entrée, and water, soda, tea, lemonade, or milk as a beverage. All meals will include a bag of chips on the side.

Organizers said all proceeds will go to the victims’ families.

The families have been adamant about not needing fundraising , according to Superintendent Justin Deters of Stew-Stras Schools, but that hasn’t stopped the community from stepping up with support.
