Medford Police Investigating Shooting on June 26
On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at approximately 8:00 pm, the Somerville Police responded to CHA Hospital in Somerville regarding a report of a male who had arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The initial investigation by the Somerville Police Department revealed that the incident took place on a part of East Albion Street in Medford, just over the Somerville line. The Medford Police Detective Unit was then notified and initiated their investigation. Surveillance video from the investigation indicates that the incident occurred on June 26, 2024, at approximately 7:57 pm, and shows multiple suspects fleeing towards Somerville after the shooting.
Haverhill Man Admits To Stealing Money Meant For Veteran Suicide: Feds
David Duren, 48, admitted to wire fraud on Monday, July 1, the US Attorney for New Hampshire said. He faces up to 20 years in prison during his sentencing on Oct. 10. Duren was a program manager at a healthcare provider in Nashua, New Hampshire, and oversaw a $750,000 program funded by a Staff Sergeant Fox Suicide Prevention Grant. The money was earmarked for treatments and services for veterans at risk of killing themselves.

Select Board OKs Purple Heart designation
The Select Board unanimously approved two requests from resident Teresa R. Collins to honor the town’s military veterans, particularly those awarded the Purple Heart. Collins asked the board to designate Marblehead as a Purple Heart Town, which would include posting signs at the main entry points, and to allow the placement of a memorial marker honoring a World War I veteran.

Josiah Moyer has recently joined MetroWest Medical Center as Director for Facilities and Support Services. As the department director, three areas fall to Josiah’s responsibility: Facilities (all things buildings and grounds); Cleanliness (as the Director for the Housekeeping department); and Security (as the contract client over the security contract with Allied Security). In his role, he makes sure that the building presents well, and is a safe, clean and attractive space that meets all the required codes and standards required by the Joint Commission, City, State and any other regulatory bodies. Josiah makes sure that all the items a building provides to patients, staff and visitors are always available, such as air conditioning, heat, water, power, medical gases and other important resources.

Thank you to all MetroWest Medical Center team members who supported the United Way of Tri County, a GBFB satellite located in Framingham, in our Annual ‘Healthy Over Hungry’ Cereal Drive! For some children, it can be challenging to ensure children have access to breakfast over the summer, and the Cereal Drive is one way to support kids during this time. Our donations will go to families living in our communities we serve. Because of your efforts, we donated 976 pounds of breakfast foods to the Food Bank. Some fun was had this Cereal Drive, we held a competition between departments and here are the team winners:
