New pastor officially installed at Calvary Lutheran Church
CRANFORD, NJ — Calvary Lutheran Church has a new pastor. The Rev. Kathryn Irwin, who can be called Pastor Irwin or Pastor Kat, began her ministry at Calvary in early May and was officially installed as pastor on Sunday, June 23, according to a press release from the church.

Seven years after the department store closed, Urban Air Adventure Park has announced plans to take over the spot at the Westmount-Arlington Plaza Shopping Center. The new venue is under construction next to the Marshalls and HomeGoods that took over the rest of the former Kmart property this spring.

Plenty of racing action took place throughout the Mid-Atlantic this past week. Here’s a look at the “three stars” of each track:. FIRST STAR: DORNOCH. Monmouth Park hosted their signature race, the grade 1 Haskell Stakes, on Saturday. Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch earned his fourth career stakes victory in an exciting stretch battle, once again fending off the late rally of Mindframe, who finished second to Dornoch in the Belmont as well, and crossing the wire 1 1/4 lengths in front. He covered 1 1/8 miles on a fast main track in 1:50.31 for an ownership group led by West Paces Racing LLC, trainer Danny Gargan, and jockey Luis Saez.
NJ Transit Services Resume Following Major Delays Due to Downed Power Lines
RAHWAY, NJ — On Sunday, July 21, NJ Transit service experienced major delays due to downed power lines on the tracks. Services were suspended from Newark to Metro Park. As of 8:35 Monday morning, it appeared that service had been fully restored. The Rahway Police Department made the announcement around 5:10 p.m. on Sunday that services had been suspended. Cranford Police Department's Youth Academy Was a Rousing Success
CRANFORD, NJ – Last week, Cranford Police Department hosted their annual Youth Academy which provides middle-school participants with hands-on exposure to various aspects of law enforcement. The Youth Academy offered 40 local Cranford cadets the unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and gain valuable life skills along the way. “Our goal is to give these kids a real sense of what it means to be a police officer,” said Detective Ali Muhammad, organizer of this year’s academy. Highlights of the week included the New Jersey State Police’s helicopter presentation and a visit from the U.S. Secret Service. Search continues for man who went missing in Delaware River
Police and rescue workers are still trying to find a man who witnesses said may have drowned Saturday afternoon in the Delaware River.
