    Commission makes several hires, discusses vacant hospital board position

    Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings June 26 – 27.

    Members:

    • Reviewed and approved the reappointment of Gwen Ross to the Texas County Library Board. Commissioner Robert Ross abstained.
    • Met with Dan Cavender, BPJ Insurance, on the county’s liability insurance. Scott Rice, BPJ Insurance, presented the commission with quotes for disability and life insurance options.
    • Reviewed and acknowledged the hiring of Chastidy Graen as a full-time jailer effective July 1.
    • Reviewed and acknowledged the transfer of Dakota Wade to patrol deputy effective June 26.
    • Reviewed and acknowledged the hiring of McKayla Robertson as a part-time employee in the county clerk’s office effective July 10.

    In other business, commissioners heard from:

    • Dale Kruse, via a phone call, concerning Cass Township.
    • Jerrie Sue Crump inquiring about the vacant Texas County Memorial Hospital board position. The position has been vacant since February.
    • Ivan Schraeder, attorney, about several county matters.
