    Always Listen and Never Submit!

Sam Houston, Texas’ first President and later its Governor, famously said, “Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may.”

Today, Texas is seeing oppression from a myriad of sources: an out-of-control invasion on our Southern border, an openly hostile Biden administration that seeks to destroy our economy, our oil-and-gas and agriculture industries, and an invasion of radical wokeism that threatens our communities, our schools, our culture, and our way of life. The battle is pitched. The stakes are high!

But, just as Sam Houston said, when faced with oppression, “Texans never submit.” It’s just not in our DNA. It never has been. That’s what makes Texas and Texans so special.

Sure, we face challenges, but I have tremendous faith in the people of Texas to meet them head on, to weather the storm, persevere, and thrive. It’s what Texans do. It’s what we always have done.

I love our great state and I have great faith in the people who call Texas home. I know when Texans stand together, there is no challenge we cannot overcome, no task too daunting, no oppression we cannot withstand.

But, in order to do so, we must listen to one another, respect one another, and stand together in this fight. When Texans stand united, there is nothing we cannot accomplish, no challenge too great! And, that’s what gives me so much hope about the future of Texas and why I am both humbled and excited about the opportunity to be your voice in our state’s capitol.

To me, State Representative is more than just a title. I believe it comes with the sacred responsibility to truly represent your values, your hopes, and your aspirations—those for our local communities, as well as for our state and nation as a whole.

The only way I know how to do that is by listening to you and your concerns, and then to carry those concerns to Austin and to act upon them. I have spent this entire campaign listening to you, and doing so has made me a better candidate, and I hope a better, more effective legislator.

I know I don’t have all the answers, but I do know that, collectively, the people of Northeast Texas do. Now, it’s time to get to work and focus on making our communities and our state even better places to live, work, and raise our families.

My solemn pledge to you is to always listen and never forget that, should you honor me with your vote, the legislative seat I will temporarily occupy won’t belong to me, but rather will always belong to you, your family, friends, and neighbors. I will be mindful that each decision I make and every vote I cast will somehow impact Northeast Texas, and I will do my utmost to always merit your trust, to make you proud, and to serve with ethics, integrity, and commonsense. You deserve nothing less. Texas deserves nothing less.
