Three Lady Eagles make TGCA All-State team Image

AUSTIN — With softball season now in the books, the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) recently released their All-State selections for the 2024 softball season. The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles would have three of their players make the 2A All-State team: Addi Monk, Bella Romero, and Saylor Smith.
Monk, the Lady Eagles’ lone senior this past season, earned All-State honors following a great senior season. This marks Monk’s second consecutive TGCA All-State selection.
Monk, the Lady Eagles’ everyday catcher, was a key factor in the Lady Eagles’ success this season, batting cleanup and being named District 17-2A MVP. She also pitched for the Lady Eagles.
Romero would earn TGCA All-State honors after turning in a great season. This marks Romero’s first time earning All-State recognition.
Romero, the Lady Eagles’ shortstop, enjoyed a great junior season. She was the Lady Eagles’ leadoff hitter. For her efforts, she was also named District 17-2A Offensive Player of the Year.
Smith would also earn her first All-State selection following a strong season.
Smith, the Lady Eagles’ centerfielder, performed well in her sophomore season. For her efforts, she earned First-Team All-District honors for her play on the diamond.
These awards are the latest awards following a great season. Monk adds another accolade to her high school softball resume following graduation, and both Romero and Smith will look to keep up their strong play as they enter their senior and junior seasons, respectively.
