A weak cold front reached Central Texas on Thursday morning, taking showers and thunderstorms with it. North Texas will see just a few spotty showers, and after temperatures get out of the 70s this morning, they'll only warm to near 90 degrees. The average high is 96 degrees.

Friday and Saturday will be relatively dry with afternoon highs in the low 90s Friday and mid-90s on Saturday. Saturday will be the warmest day for the next seven days. By Saturday evening, a cluster of storms will form to the northwest of Dallas-Fort Worth and try to sneak into the area by daybreak Sunday. These will weaken significantly but will re-fire during the afternoon and evening hours. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s.

The unsettled weather pattern will continue Monday through Wednesday of next week, as a trough of low pressure builds over Texas and stays put through most of the week. Weak disturbances will round this trough and move into Texas through the period. This colder air aloft combined with daytime heating will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours across much of the state. Due to the clouds and rain in the area, afternoon highs will be in the 80s area-wide.
