It's the last day of July and there are still about seven more weeks to go before we see the next decent cold front through North Texas. More heat advisories are in place Wednesday, and most likely through Saturday.

An area of low clouds streamed in from the south Wednesday morning with temperatures in the upper 70s. Wednesday will be mostly sunny and hot with afternoon highs in the upper 90s. Heat index values will range between 105 and 108.

A bubble of high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere is still anchored over southern Kansas. That's where the hottest temperatures will be on Wednesday. This upper-level high will slide to the south on Thursday and Friday. Afternoon highs on Thursday will approach 100 degrees and around 102 on Friday. Heat index values will be above 105 again.

This upper-level ridge will slide to the west of North Texas this weekend, allowing a weak cold front to slide into the area. There's a 30% chance of afternoon and early evening showers and storms on Saturday, and a 20% chance on Sunday. With the clouds and rain in the area this weekend, most of North Texas will stay below 100 degrees.

This front washes out late Sunday and hot and dry conditions return for Monday and Tuesday. Afternoon highs approach 100 degrees again.

In the tropics, disturbed weather is approaching the British Virgin Islands and Lesser Antilles. The National Hurricane Center is monitoring this cluster of showers and storms over the coming days. They give this area of disturbed weather a 60% chance of forming over the next seven days, north of the Dominican Republic and near the Bahamas early this weekend.

Its current forecast track would take it towards Florida late into the weekend. After that, residents along the Carolina coasts all the way to the Florida Panhandle need to monitor this disturbance. Some data has it moving into the Gulf of Mexico, strengthening it a bit, and moving toward the western Florida Panhandle by next Tuesday.
