A candidate for mayor picked up an endorsement this week. Former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor endorsed State Rep. Monroe Nichols’ candidacy for her old job. Taylor served as mayor from 2006 to 2009 with Nichols on her staff. She ran again and lost in 2013 with Nichols as her campaign manager.
J.C. Penney to permanently close 4 stores
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Department store retailer J.C. Penney will shutter four stores across as many states, Retail Dive has reported. According to an email provided by the company, locations in Alabama, Texas and Maine will close before Sept. 22. The J.C. Penney at the Westfield Annapolis Mall in Annapolis, Maryland, will close in 2025.

U of Oklahoma dental school launches state's 1st pediatric residency
The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry launched the first pediatric dental residency program in the state. The two-year program is 80% patient care and 20% didactic, and is focused on training residents to provide dental care to children with an emphasis on care for children with medical complexities and developmental conditions, according to an Aug. 14 news release from the university.

YUKON, OKLA. (KOKH) — The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released a preliminary report on the investigation into a deadly plane crash that claimed four lives. According to the report, the pilot was taking three passengers, a father and his two sons, on a sightseeing flight in the area.
