OLNEY ( KFDX/K JTL) — Chris Tobola takes over as head coach of the Olney Cubs after his most recent stint at Tomball High School as associate head coach and special teams coordinator.

“Any time you come in, you are ready to build a program,” Tobola said. “I think we have the tools to win. I really believe we have the pieces to make a shot at the playoffs.”

Olney hired its new head coach in June, so the Cubs have a relatively short time to get acquainted with their new leader.

The team only returns three starters, one with a plethora of experience.

“We are going to be led by Cam McComack,” Tobola said. “He is going to be a dude on both sides of the ball for us. He will start at quarterback and then play somewhere in the secondary.”

McComack is expected to target Eli Clayton and Tucker Cortinez.

“He (McComack) is definitely one that I really trust,” Clayton said. “If there is anyone to get the job done, it would be him.”

The culture is shifting in Olney, and Tobola is ready to start his reign in District 4-2A Division I.
