WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — An Iowa Park man wanted for violating protective orders filed by his parents is in Archer County Jail after he led officers on a high-speed chase and came out of his car with a knife.

David Lloyd Wright Jr., 30, is jailed without bond for evading arrest.

The chase started around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, in Holliday. Archer County Sheriff Jack Curd said Wright had warrants for violating his bond conditions and a protective order.

He said a sergeant with the sheriff’s office pulled up behind Wright and turned on his lights and Wright took off at speeds of around 100 miles per hour.

The chase continued on U.S. 82 into Wichita Falls, and Wichita County deputies successfully deployed spike strips at Fairway Boulevard.

They said his car made it to the Lawrence Road overpass, then went into the median. Curd said when Wright got out of the car with a knife, he was tased and taken into custody.

Besides violations of protective orders, Wright has several other pending cases, including animal cruelty in 2022 for allegedly throwing his parents’ Chihuahua against the wall and kicking it repeatedly, resulting in its euthanization.

He has additional pending charges for making false statements to an officer and forgery.

Also, the day after the animal cruelty was reported, Iowa Park Police went to Peterson Road to investigate illegal dumping and found trash all over the road, including plywood, a tire, a chair and sleeper and other items, including mail addressed to Wright on Cash Street.

He was charged with illegal dumping.
