WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A woman is now in custody in connection to a May disturbance at Spudder Park in which police said people were fighting, shots were fired and two people were struck by a car.

Lalia Dean was jailed Thursday, Aug. 29, on charges of causing an accident with injuries.

Police responded to a reported disturbance in Spudder Park on May 27, 2024, in which several young people were fighting. While en route, officers received an update that people had been struck by a car and shots were being fired.

Police found two people on the ground who had been struck by a car and both were taken to the hospital.

At the time, police said witnesses on the scene were reluctant to talk with police.

One of the victims said she and the other victim were leaving the park when a fight broke out among females and they heard gunshots.

They said there was a rush of people trying to leave, including a white SUV speeding through the parking lot, which struck and knocked her to the ground, then began backing up, and bystanders pulled her out of the way.

Police say they later found the SUV wrecked and abandoned in the area.

Later, the registered owner called the police to inquire how to get the vehicle. She said she had loaned the vehicle to her son to go to work and they then learned he had given it to his girlfriend, Lalia Dean, to drive.

The victims were shown a photo lineup, which included Dean, and both identified her as the driver.

In July, Dean was among suspects featured in a Crime Stoppers Most Wanted Fugitives list.
