WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Police said a shoplifter at Walmart used the same scheme multiple times in thefts by using a previously stolen electric scooter he said he was returning.

Woodie Sons is charged with four counts of theft allegedly committed July 10, 11, 13 and 14 at the same Walmart on Central Freeway.

Walmart loss prevention said the first one they knew of after reviewing security footage was on July 10, when Sons came in, got into an electric cart, and rode to the scooter section.

They said he took a $389 scooter and rode it to the lawn and garden department. He told the cashier he had tried to return it at the return desk, but they denied it, and he then rode out on the cart with the scooter.

On July 11, he came in again, got into an electric cart, went to the scooter section, put a scooter in the cart and again went to the lawn and garden department; he said he had returned a scooter for exchange and rode out.

On July 13, they say he returned with an empty box of a scooter he had stolen previously and told the door greeter he was returning a scooter and was allowed in.

They said he went to the scooter section and took another scooter, put the empty box in its place, then walked out with it. They say he put the scooter into a Chevy Camaro with an Oklahoma State tag and went back to the garden center, took a chainsaw and walked out with it in a shopping cart.

On July 14, they say he came back, took a pellet gun and walked out with it. While in the store, employees recognized the car in the parking lot as that used in thefts before and viewed surveillance video to look for him and trace his movements through the store.

Employees identified Sons as the same suspect in the other thefts. Police identified him with the surveillance videos and first issued a trespass notice barring him from Walmart and then prepared arrest warrants for each alleged theft case.
