WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal pedestrian-involved accident on Wednesday night on a major roadway in Wichita Falls.

According to Sgt. Charlie Eipper, Public Information Officer with the Wichita Falls Police Department, officers responded to the 4700 block of Southwest Parkway at around 8:23 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, to investigate a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

PREVIOUS STORY: Traffic closed on Southwest Parkway for apparent fatal wreck

Sgt. Eipper said that officers arrived on the scene and discovered the pedestrian, later identified as Derick James Beeman, 56, of Wichita Falls, had been struck by a vehicle.

According to Sgt. Eipper, Beeman was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Sgt. Eipper said that, according to the WFPD Crash Investigation Unit, Beeman was walking northbound across all six lanes of traffic when he was struck by a 2008 Ford Mustang while traveling westbound on Southwest Parkway.

According to Sgt. Eipper, the Mustang, was driven by a 16-year-old male, and an 18-year-old passenger was also in the vehicle. He said the two teens were interviewed by investigators and released from the scene.

Sgt. Eipper said this marks the fifth traffic-related fatality in Wichita Falls for the year 2024.
