WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A Wichita Falls woman released from jail last month in an exploitation fraud case involving a 76-year-old woman is now charged with exploitation of a 66-year-old man.

Police said the victim was talked into turning over his property and money when he believed the woman was going to marry him.

He said when it was all over, he was left homeless and living out of a car.

Skyler Houston, 29, who was already on probation for fraud when arrested in August, is back in jail on $100,000 bond for another exploitation of an elderly person charge.

This latest case of many came to light when the 66-year-old man waved down a police officer on Jacksboro Highway to tell police how he had lost almost everything to Houston’s scheme.

He told them he had met her on social media and they began a relationship.

Once she had him romantically interested, police said she began the grooming process that led to his financial ruin.

They said the victim was convinced Houston was going to marry him and that Houston used her 9-year-old daughter to help gain his trust.

When Houston gained the victim’s confidence, she was able to add herself to his bank account and began withdrawing his money, more than $42,000 from February to July 2024.

They said she told him she had purchased a home for them to live in and even though he had never seen it, he gave her money for the down payment. Police said a simple online search showed no address for the alleged home.

Officers said he also added her as a beneficiary to his life insurance policy.

After a stay in the hospital, the victim said Houston even stole his Medicare-provided oxygen equipment.

When his funds were drained and he lost his apartment, he said he ended up living out of his vehicle. Once he had nothing left to pawn or sell, he said Houston broke off their relationship.

Police said during their investigation, they were contacted by other agencies investigating Houston for similar offenses with elderly victims.

Houston’s arrest last month was for allegedly stealing and using the credit cards of a 76-year-old Burkburnett woman who let her in her home when Houston told her her car had broken down.

Houston is on probation for defrauding a woman who hired her to do housework and for
using stolen money orders from Tealwood Apartments to pay her rent.

She has another credit card abuse case pending and two motions pending to revoke her probation.

Jail records show nine arrests since 2020 for fraud, forgery, and credit card abuse.
