Editor’s Note: A previous version of the story identified the AR-15 as an assault rifl e. AR stands for ArmaLite Rifle.

CITY VIEW ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A City View student is free on bond after being charged with making a terroristic threat by posting a photo of an AR-15 rifle and knives and making comments about the school.

After an interview and a threat assessment by the City View police, Jessie Tinsley was charged Tuesday, September 10. He was released on $25,000 bond Wednesday.

Officers were made aware early Tuesday morning of a post made by Tinsley.

The post was a photo of an AR-15 rifle, what appeared to be shell casings and knives and a caption that said “**** City View, I don’t claim y’all as a school anymore.”

During the threat assessment interview, police said he holds resentment against his mother because of a pending divorce and it appeared to be affecting him.

Another question concerned the student’s inappropriate interest in school attacks, to which police said Tinsley mentioned the school shooting in Georgia.

During the interview, in which his parents were in attendance, police said his father admitted he supplied an assault rifle to his son recently and allowed him to keep it in his room and they had had target practice recently.

While he admitted posting the photo of the rifle on his Snapchat account, police said Tinsley did not have an appropriate answer on why he posted it. He just kept saying how frustrated he is now.

Police said he told them he has no friends and is a “self-admitted loner.”

Police said numerous parents contacted them saying they were very concerned about the post and about having their child at school if Tinsley was there.

The police report states Tinsley was suspended for three days pending investigation.

An officer said when he advised Tinsley’s father about parents being charged for supplying their children with weapons, he just shook his head and smiled.

Police said they received information from some parents that another student said he was going to help Tinsley on the morning of September 10, but that information could not be confirmed.

After the post and investigation, added security was hired at the school and the sheriff’s office sent deputies to the school.
