WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Dr. Brandon Ohman, a non-operative orthopedic specialist with United Regional Physician Group, is restoring mobility to patients with minor to severe orthopedic injuries.

One patient, speech therapist Karen Day, says the work she loves was almost taken from her, but now, she’s bounced back.

“It was very debilitating,” Day said.

Suffering for years with chronic back pain, Day saw her mobility slipping away.

“My back pain was so severe that I couldn’t walk well, and I couldn’t do just daily activities,” she said.

Working with kids on the daily, she knew it was time to regain her freedom, booking an appointment with Ohman.

“Pain management has two different aspects. There are medicines that can be used for chronic pain, and the other portion is interventional injections and procedures,” Ohman said. “I focus on the procedural aspect.”

Needing an ablation, which uses heat to reduce pain signals sent to the brain, it’s a procedure Day took advantage of.

“Going to the dentist is a lot more scary,” Day said. “It didn’t hurt, and it didn’t give me any problems. I sat on it for 24 hours, and then I was ready to go.

Ohman said that thanks to ultrasound technology, they were able to pinpoint and relieve Day’s pain with ease—and that same care goes for all who step into his office.

“Interventional procedures under ultrasound that give us a very visualized area that we need to be treating,” Ohman said. “[I’ve had patients from] 8 years old to… 101 but [had] similar injuries.”

Whether you’ve been suffering from chronic pain for years or sprain your ankle under the Friday night lights, Ohman said each patient can expect individualized care.

“But having well-trained physicians that are confident in their procedures but also use good judgment,” Ohman said.

Keeping those best interests at the forefront has helped Day, who can now get back to the work she loves—and then some.

“He gave me the first release on the back in several years. I could just…Shower or anything like hurting,” Day said. “After that procedure, I was, like, doing all of those things and, you know, all things I wanted to do.”

Ohman said that same relief is only an appointment away.
