WICHITA COUNTY ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Nineteen dogs and four cats were seized from one home in Electra during an investigation into animal cruelty on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

When Electra Animal Control Officer Kari Banahan received the call from Electra P.D. to investigate the home, she found out three things.

“There were several dogs in a house, malnourished; the house was in horrible conditions,” Banahan said.

Banahan said the animals were all kept inside the home with no outside access since the home has no fence. In addition to the already poor conditions of the home and the animals living in it, Banahan also found an additional 10 deceased animals stored in a freezer.

“This is the first time I’ve ever encountered anything of this volume,” Banahan said. “It was absolutely the worst seizure I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Every animal from the Electra home was removed and is now receiving care and treatment at the Iowa Park Reclaim Center. Due to the sheer volume of animals from the seizure, Electra couldn’t care for all of them.

Banahan said she was thankful for the assistance.

“Iowa Park was very gracious in helping us with the seizure. Electra, we’re not equipped to take in this many animals,” Banahan said. “We only have six kennels. They’re outside at the sewage plant. Our kennels are not ideal to begin with, but certainly not for this volume.”

The seized dogs and cats are now living at animal control, so they aren’t out of the woods yet, but their living situation is far better than it was before.

Due to the influx of new arrivals, the Iowa Park Reclaim Center is accepting any food and monetary donations to help feed the animals and pay for their medical expenses.

You can donate food at either the Iowa Park Reclaim Center or Electra Animal Control. Monetary donations can also be made to the Iowa Park Reclaim Center or the P.E.T.S Clinic in Wichita Falls.

Aariyah Robinson was arrested at the scene for interfering with public duties and resisting arrest.

    There is an ongoing investigation.
