WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL )— On the 800 block of Ohio in downtown Wichita Falls, steak and music took center stage.

The Burn Shop Block Party hosted several music groups and a big crowd in the heart of downtown. The Burn Shop staff served up steaks all night while several bands took the stage. Proceeds from the night went toward the Wichita Falls Professional Firefighters Association and the Police Officers Association.

Burn Shop owner Keith Wineinger made it known that those two organizations, were the biggest reason behind the block party.

“Each one of those organizations has got a cook team over there. They’re all cooking,” Wineinger said. “We’ve got firefighters and police officers on our committee, so they’re helping us out, making sure that, you know, we’re doing things as correct as possible. And we’re just trying to maximize the amount of money that we’re able to give back to each organization.”

The evening concert series wasn’t the only big part of the block party either. The party really got started early in the day with the steak cookoff, officiated by the SCA, the official Steak Cookoff Association.

Several steak aficionados lit up their grills to submit a ribeye steak cooked medium to the judges.

How fitting that a day that started out centered on steak ended with steak as a key centerpiece of one big party.
