WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A Wichita Falls man has been arrested after police said he shot at a vehicle just after midnight on Saturday, September 28.

Police responded to the 4700 block of Lois Lane in reference to gunshots. The reporting person said that the suspect had shot at their vehicle and then retreated back into the residence.

According to the affidavit, the victims stated they were involved in a road rage incident and came to the Lois Lane address, where they said someone shot at them as they drove by.

Ricardo Campos Jr., 40, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Authorities said Campos stated that his son called him and said he was being followed by someone in an SUV.

According to police, after telling his son to drive home, Campos then left his residence to find his son. He stated that when he turned onto Sheppard Access Road, he saw his son being followed closely by another vehicle.

After Campos, his son, and three other juvenile passengers arrived back at the residence on Lois Lane, Campos told authorities that he saw the SUV that had been following his son turn onto Lois Ln, and it was traveling at a high rate of speed toward them as they stood in the street.

According to the affidavit, Campos stated that he thought the SUV was going to hit him, so he fired one round from his handgun, striking the vehicle.

All three witnesses told officers that the SUV was driving erratically, and the truck driver took evasive maneuvers in an attempt to lose the SUV before arriving at the residence on Lois Lane.

The affidavit said all three witnesses were beginning to head inside the residence when they heard the gunshot but did not see it.

According to police reports, the possible trajectory of the round and the location of the spent shell casing led officials to believe the vehicle had already passed Campos when he fired the round. It also appeared that by not removing himself from the public roadway, he placed himself in harm’s way and did not act in self-defense.

Campos was arrested and booked into the Wichita County Jail without further incident. He is out on a $10,000 bond.

You should never follow a vehicle to their residence during a road rage incident. Stupid kids , I hope the shooter gets the charges dismissed .
