WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A 79-year-old Wichita Falls man is hospitalized with a serious head injury after police said he confronted a yard worker next door about blowing grass clippings onto his driveway.

Connor Duncan of Iowa Park was jailed on a $250,000 bond for injury to an elderly person.

On Tuesday morning, Oct. 1, Wichita Falls police said they found the victim in the street in the 4800 block of Earl Street, with a bloody wound on the back of his head and his face covered with vomit.

Police said he was rushed to the hospital and was not responding to stimuli and was intubated.

Emergency surgery was postponed due to the extent of the swelling and bleeding.

According to a witness next door to the victim, Duncan was mowing the witness’s yard when he heard the leaf blower turn off and saw Duncan leaving in his truck. The victim then went up and knocked on the truck’s window.

The witness said Duncan got out of his truck and pushed the victim, who fell backward and hit his head on the street. He said he could hear the impact because it sounded like a “sledge hitting concrete.”

After the victim fell, he said Duncan left in his truck. He gave police Duncan’s phone number and they called Duncan and told him to return to the scene.

Duncan agreed to talk to them and said the victim got upset because grass clippings were blown onto his driveway.

He said he blew the clippings off the driveway and began to drive away, but the victim began hitting his truck window. He said he got out, and the victim got in his face, so he pushed him, and the victim fell onto the street and Duncan then left.

At the last report, the victim was in intensive care.
