WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — The Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation and the Texoma Gives staff are celebrating another successful year of donations and giving to area non-profits.

With all of the hard work that goes into each year of Texoma Gives , it was time for everyone involved, non-profit or staff behind the scenes, to take a well-earned breather.

At the Sikes Lake Center, the celebration was all about celebrating the ninth annual Day of Giving. With all of the data from the donations from that day officially tallied, over 8,000 gifts were given from 49 different U.S. states and nine countries.

President of the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation, Leslie Schaffner, is proud of how those around Texoma, the country, and the world supported the non-profits right here at home.

“Collectively, over $1.77 million was raised during that Giving Day event,” Schaffner said. “And those moneys will go to benefit so many organizations in a multi-county area. And Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation is just very privileged to be a part of that process with our nonprofits.”

Not only were the non-profits and staff celebrated, but one person in particular also received a nice surprise.

This ninth Texoma Gives campaign was Schaffner’s last before she officially retires from her position with the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation. All of her hard work will surely carry on as Texoma Gives starts preparing for its 10th Day of Giving, and Schaffner said she’ll still be cheering her friends on from the sidelines.
