First-time food truck festival coming to Wichita Falls: Texas Yum Fest

    WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — What’s currently a 10-acre field will soon transform into a first-time food festival.

Setup is underway for the Texas Yum Fest, kicking off from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. this Saturday, October 5, and Sunday, October 6, at the Pickleball Hanger LLC.

The food festival is a partnership effort between the Pickleball Hanger and nonprofit Evnttex, according to organizers. Several food trucks and vendors will be set up, aligning with their mission of getting people up and out of the house.

“It’s 10 acres out here of grass, and they just asked me if it was something I’d like to give a try,” Pickleball Hanger Owner Amanda Chandler said. “I was like, Sure.’ I mean, we need more things to do here. So if that can bring more people out and we come up with even more ideas to use this property in that way, I think it’s perfect.”

For Chandler, the unique dining experience is a way to bring exposure to her gym.

“We’ve been here for over a year, and several people from Wichita Falls don’t even know we’re here, so I’m hoping that will help get the word out,” Chandler said. “I’m so excited. I’m just going to start down the line. I have two days that I get to just go and check out all these different foods.”

It’s free to attend, and organizers say that at least 11 food trucks and over 20 vendors will take over that vast field this weekend.
