MJ’s Motivation: “Winning is not loyal”

Winning is not loyal.

It doesn’t owe us anything. It requires everything we’ve got, and more, with zero promises for anything in return.

I have the pleasure of covering so many sports: Local, regional and national. In doing so I get to see a wide variety of teams. Sometimes I get the feeling athletes believe success is guaranteed simply because they’ve worked hard in the past.

But the thing about winning, it slips away the moment you take it for granted.

Success must be earned over and over again. Game by game. Practice by practice. Workout by workout.

It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve won in the past. It matters how hungry you are for the next victory.

Complacency kills.
