WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — Skeletal remains that were discovered inside an abandoned home in Wichita Falls over the summer have been identified.

According to Sgt. Charlie Eipper, Public Information Officer with the Wichita Falls Police Department, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, just after 10:40 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1900 block of 7th Street to investigate a possible human skeleton that was discovered.

Sgt. Eipper said the caller had entered the house to escape the heat when he found the skeleton. He said officers arrived and entered the boarded-up residence to find a full human skeleton.

According to Sgt. Eipper, a debit card was found near the skeletal remains. He said the name on the card was that of a reported missing person. He said the body was then sent off for an autopsy and to confirm the identity of the deceased.

Sgt. Eipper said detectives have confirmed the identity of the deceased as Darryll Wayne Lesperance, 60, of Wichita Falls. He said detectives believe the death was natural, and there were no signs of foul play.
