    Driver killed, four injured in Thayer traffic accident

    THAYER, Mo. — A single-vehicle accident in Thayer, Missouri, on Monday, July 1, resulted in a man from Westphalia, Missouri being killed and four passengers being injured, including three juveniles.

    According to a Facebook post by the Thayer Police Department (TPD), they responded to a motor vehicle accident near US Highway 63 and Alton Road at 6:23 a.m.

    Once they arrived, officers found that the vehicle was occupied by two adults, 43-year-old Adam Berhorst and 35-year-old Susan Berhorst, and three juveniles aged 11, 9 and 4, all from Westphalia, Missouri. Officers immediately rendered aid to the occupants along with Oregon County Ambulance staff.

    Two arrested after attempted ATM theft leads to pursuit

    TPD says the crash occurred when the 2016 GMC Yukon went off the southbound side of the roadway and into a wooden embankment. The vehicle continued to travel into the backyard of a house on Alton Road and crashed into a tree.

    The driver, Adam Berhorst died due to his injuries from the crash, while Susan Berhorst suffered minor injuries. The nine-year-old and four-year-old also had serious injuries, but the 11-year-old suffered no apparent injuries.

    The four passengers were taken by ambulance to Ozarks Health Care in West Plains. The two juveniles who were seriously injured were transported from Ozarks Health Care to the Children’s Hospital by a medivac.
