In Games 1 and 2 of the Class 5A softball regional quarterfinals, the crosstown showdown between the Abilene High Lady Eagles and the Wylie High Lady Bulldogs filled the stands at Abilene Christian University's Poly Wells Field.

With a win over El Paso's Ysleta High during the area or second round of the playoffs, the Lady Eagles entered the series with a record of 23-13-1.

The Lady Bulldogs recent win over Canutillo High, also in the area round, brought their season record to 21-7.

Abilene High carried the energy on the field and in the stands sporting black and gold gear and noisemakers in support of their team.

With a scoreless game until the fifth inning, the Lady Eagles turned the tables on the Lady Bulldogs in Game 1.

Abilene High gained significant momentum after scoring seven runs in the fifth inning, and it was hard for Wylie High to make up lost ground.

After a switch of pitchers for the Lady Bulldogs, Abilene softball coach Jenna Bane revved up the crowd rallying support for her players.

The Lady Eagles won the first game of the series, winning 7-0, and then completed the sweep on Saturday with a 6-0 victory. Abilene High will advance to the regional semifinals and face Burleson Centennial.
