Playoff recap: Wylie baseball tops Abilene High in 3 games; Coahoma keeps rolling in softball

A week after Abilene High's and Wylie's softball teams faced off, the school's two baseball teams did the same thing and produced a series that went all three games.

The series was delayed because of rain with Game 1 finishing on Friday with Wylie winning, and then the Eagles won Game 2 that same night before the Bulldogs closed out the series on Saturday night. Wylie is one of four high school baseball teams still alive that will head to the regional semifinals.

ABILENE HIGH VS. WYLIE

Of note: The Bulldogs closed out the series with a run-rule victory, and will get ready for Argyle in the regional semifinals.

STEPHENVILLE VS. KRUM

Game 1: Stephenville 3, Krum 1

Game 2: Stephenville 12, Krum 0.

Of note: The Yellowjackets keep rolling in the postseason and get set to face off with Seminole, who upended Canyon Randall.

STAMFORD VS. BANGS

All games at Abilene Christian University

Game 1: Stamford 4, Bangs 2

Game 2: Stamford 10, Bangs 9

Of note: The Bulldogs win a thriller to advance to the regional semifinals and will take on New Home.

HAWLEY VS. ALBANY

Game 1: Hawley 4, Albany 0

Game 2: Hawley 6, Albany 5

Of note: The Bearcats top Albany and will face off with Ropes, who swept Clarendon.

Of note: The Eagles stellar season comes to close against the District 8 champion. Abilene High's run to the regional semifinals included wins against Amarillo High, El Paso Ysleta and Wylie.

BUSHLAND VS. COAHOMA

All games at Rocky Johnson Field, Lubbock

Game 1: Coahoma 11, Bushland 1

Game 2: Coahoma 5, Bushland 0.

Of note: The Bulldogette train keeps rolling and next up is a date with Wichita Falls-area perennial power Iowa Park.
