DCA held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in June for the upcoming expansion project to add a football field, baseball field, paved parking lots, and more buildings for the growing school.

“The planning and engineering is done. It is a big day for DCA because we are moving forward,” said DCA Headmaster Chris Holderman.

Holderman explained that the expansion is necessary as the school is already nearing maximum capacity, and enrollment is expected to continue growing.

“We have increased enrollment this year by 15 percent,” Holderman said. “By this time next year, we expect a 20 percent increase. We want to utilize our space as much as we can. We are maxed out with our capacity right now.”

Holderman hopes that DCA’s expansion of programs will make the school a more enticing choice for parents and students.

“What DCA offers is unique,” Holderman said. “We are a Christ-centered school, but we want to provide the education and school that parents want for kids. Kids want opportunities; parents want opportunities for kids. Parents don’t have to face that decision when their kids start getting older and start focusing on a particular activity or sport.”

Holderman hopes that the new buildings will be student-ready within two years. Holderman said that the project is nearly fully funded.

“We are getting close for the funds and loans to be approved,” Holderman said. “Our funding comes from our hard-working parents and donations.”

Holderman hopes that the school can offer everything that surrounding districts provide students.

“I see us becoming a small school district,” Holderman said. “I want us to do everything that schools down the road have. That is how I’m running this school, as a small district that has everything other districts have. That is what it is about, providing the best opportunities for our students.”
