BCHS Alumni tailgate party to celebrate 60 years of graduates; Association taking nominations

The Boyle County High School Alumni Association will hold the annual association tailgate party before the Boyle vs. Taylor County Football game on Friday, Sept. 20.

The party will be held in the high school cafeteria. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and dinner will be served from 5 until 6:30 p.m.

Every year at the tailgate party, the graduating year that is celebrating its 50th anniversary is given a special highlight at the event.

“We always try to get as many alumni as we can. The class that has been out for 50 years, we always honor them,” said BCHS Alumni Association acting chairman Ervin Vanover. “We have a special table for them. If they need any help for their reunion we help them with it.”

During the tailgate party, the association presents the “Distinguished Alumni” and “Rebel for Life” awards.

Recipients of the “Distinguished Alumni” award may be nominated by anyone and must meet the following criteria to be eligible for consideration to win the award: nominated before the deadline of Sept. 6, a graduate of BCHS or one of the consolidated county high schools, and graduated at least 10 years ago.

The “Rebel for Life” award is given to former staff members of Boyle County Schools who have shown exceptional support for the school system. Recipients of the awards will be honored during half-time of the football game.

The BCHS Alumni Association was founded 14 years ago with the goal of supporting Boyle County Schools and allowing alumni to reconnect with former classmates. Half of all dues collected by the Alumni Association are donated to Boyle County Schools.
