    BOYLE COUNTY

    Coach: Brian Deem

2023 record: 20-6-1 (45th District champion, 12th Region champion, state semifinalist)

Top returnees: Hensley Arnold, Sr. D; Raegan Britt, Jr. F; Kennedy Bugg, Sr. D; Maggie Burke, Jr. F; Addison Cannon, Sr. GK; Maggie Gnann, Sr. CM; Addison Hazlett, Jr. F; Mia Kilby, So. MF; Ellery Taylor, Jr. CM.

Outlook: There is experience all over the field at Boyle, which is coming off the deepest postseason run in program history. Nine starters return from the team that reached the state semifinals, and they will lead a team that is looking to make regional titles and state tournament appearances a regular occurance again.

Burke, Britt, Hazlett and Taylor each scored more than 20 goals for a team that scored a state-high 155 goals last season. Speed will again allow the Lady Rebels to gain advantages on offense, and Deem said it will drive a defense that will be able to push players forward to create more chances.

Talented newcomers always seem to be on the way at Boyle, and freshmen Claire Combs and Isabella Wade are poised to make an impact in the midfield and on defense, respectively.

Coach’s comments: “We have an experienced team with speed all around the field. I feel we can put pressure on teams to create opportunities. Team chemistry is always a major factor regardless of how many players return or not, so we are building on that chemistry and will hopefully have it settled by October.”

Top returnees: Angie Cartagena, Sr.; Alyssa Dilbeck, Jr.; June Goodwin, So.; Brynn Haden-McCowan, Jr.; Ellie Pennington, So.; Ivy Sadler, So.

Outlook: Danville lost only two seniors but remains an extremely young team, with only one senior and four juniors on the roster. Dilbeck and Goodwin led the team in goals last season, and Sadler returns in goal.

The Lady Admirals are working to improve their offensive output after finishing as the lowest-scoring team in the region last season.

    LINCOLN COUNTY

    Coach: Lewis Cummins

    2023 record: 8-10-1

Top returnees: Mia Bodner, So. S; Ella Franklin, Sr. S; Kylie Jenkins, Sr. MF; Hallie Mullins, Sr. MF; Annabelle Stephens, Jr. D.

Outlook: Lincoln flirted with .500 last season with a young team that lost only two seniors to graduation, and experience should help the Lady Patriots take another step forward this season. Three of their top four scorers return – Bodner, Jenkins and Stephens – and senior Gatlynn Lewis is the most experienced goalkeeper.

Freshman midfielder Layken High is expected to make an immediate impact for Lincoln, which looks to return to the regional tournament after earning regional berths as a district runner-up in 2021 and ’22.

Coach’s comments: “We have a team with more experience than last year’s team. The girls are excited to get the season started.”
