    Library youth programs resume in September

    The Boyle County Public Library offers free activities, special events, online resources, and numerous services for the community. Programs often include storytimes, crafting programs, art exhibits, and gaming events. Here is a closer look at the upcoming events at the library:

    Gallery Exhibit: “Adventure Begins at Your Library”

    We invite you to see the fun and creativity that our community had during this year’s Summer Reading Program: “Adventure Begins at Your Library.”  This unique exhibit will feature art projects and photos from our many programs offered this summer. The exhibit will be on display August 14-30, 2024 in the Georgia de Araujo Gallery. (All ages)

    Silent Book Club

    On Saturday, August 31 from 2:00-3:00 PM, come be a part of BCPL’s chapter of the Silent Book Club. Meet at the library on the last Saturday of the month for an hour of socializing and reading. Hang out and enjoy the community of book club without the pressure of assigned reading. This event will be held in the Reading Room. (Ages 18+)

    YA Creative Club

    Join us each week for YA Creative Club, where tweens and teens can create fun crafts and learn new artistic skills while relaxing, eating snacks, and hanging out with other creatives. Each session is suitable for artists and crafters of all skill levels. New and returning members are always welcome! On Tuesday, September 3 from 3:30-5:00 PM, we’ll get crafty at “Crafternoon.” Get inspired as you explore the library’s collection of artistic materials and crafting supplies. Let your imagination guide you to create something new and exciting to take home at the end of the day! This event will be held in the Tech Area Lounge on the 5th level of the library. (Ages 11-17; Grades 6-12)

    Library Game Night

    Join us for Library Game Night on Tuesday, September 3 from 6:00-8:00 PM. This is a social event for all-ages where you, your family, and your peers can enjoy a fun night of pizza, competition, and cooperation. The library will provide the food and a full collection of board games. Staff will be available to help you learn the games. This event will be held in the Community Room. (All ages)

    YA Gaming Guild

    Join us each week for YA Gaming Guild, where tweens and teens can relax, play games, eat snacks, and hang out with other gamers. We offer all kinds of games for you to enjoy, including video games, board games, card games, puzzles, and more. Please feel free to bring your own gaming consoles, laptops, and games to play with your friends as well. New and returning gamers are always welcome! On Thursday, September 5 from 3:30-5:00 PM, you and your fellow gamers will get to pick what you play from the library’s collection of games, puzzles, and video games for the Nintendo Switch. This event will be held in the Community Room. (Ages 11-17; Grades 6-12)

    Volunteer Orientation

    If you’ve ever thought about volunteering at the Library, you’re invited to join us for a Volunteer Orientation on Friday, September 6 at 3:00 PM. The 60-minute session includes a presentation, snacks, a tour, and time for Q&A. For more information, please email us at volunteer@boylepublib.org. This event will be held in the Community Room. (All ages)
