A man driving a stolen car was arrested on numerous charges after being located in Danville and then leading police on a multi-county chase on Thursday.

Danville Police were requested by Kentucky State Police to assist in locating a stolen vehicle on Thursday, August 22 just after 7 p.m. The vehicle was described as a 2006 black Ford Explorer and was possibly in the Big Lots parking lot.

Danville Police located the vehicle in question, parked and occupied with a subject in the driver’s seat.  As police approached and attempted to detain the operator, the vehicle fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed.

Danville Police units initiated a pursuit of the vehicle as it entered onto the Danville Bypass and continued to travel east.  The operator of the vehicle failed to yield, and speeds reached more than 90 mph through Danville/Boyle County before entering Lincoln County.

Agencies from multiple jurisdictions assisted in attempting to apprehend the suspect.  Danville Police disengaged from the pursuit upon exiting the city limits of Stanford, as units from the local jurisdiction assumed primary responsibility.   Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, and Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office were eventually able to stop and apprehend the suspect in Rockcastle County.

Jarrell Martell, 24, of Baker, Louisiana was lodged in the Rockcastle County Detention Center on a multitude of charges that included numerous traffic offenses, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, criminal mischief 1st degree, wanton endangerment 1st degree, and wanton endangerment 1st degree (police officer).
