Carnation Festival Kickoff Parade thrills crowd

Community pride was on display Sunday in the Greater Alliance Carnation Festival Kickoff Parade, an event that is held during the annual Pump-in and Muster event. Fire crews brought their engines into the parade line, and blared sirens as they traveled along South Union Avenue for a joyous crowd. Sunday's weather was a welcome change from heavy rain on Saturday. Two popular events − the Auto Show and Pedal Tractor Pull − were wiped out by the weather. The parade also featured school groups, such as the Alliance High School and Marlington High School cheerleading squads.
