Area news in brief for Aug. 14

AHS 1956 – Alliance High School Class of 1956 will meet at 9 a.m. Aug. 20 at Don Pancho’s Tex Mex Cafe, 2105 W. State St. in Alliance.  All friends, classmates and spouses are welcome to attend.

ALLIANCE PLANNING – City of Alliance Department of Planning and Zoning and the Community Development Commission plan a public meeting at 9 a.m. Aug. 26 at the City Administration Building, 504 E. Main St., in the second-floor conference room. Purpose of the meeting is to review carryover Community Development Block Grant funds.

WEST BRANCH – West Branch Local Schools Board of Education plans a work session at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the West Branch High School Media Room, 14277 S. Main St. in Beloit. The board will have a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the same location.

CABOOSE CONCERT – The Downtown Summer Concert Series Rockin’ at the Caboose will continue at 6 p.m. Friday with Vocal Fusion. The free show will be open to the public. The event also will feature food trucks – Here to Serve BBQ; Sea Food-N-Eat, and refreshments available by donation from Christ United Methodist Church.
