    MINERVA BUTTERFLIES – Minerva Public Library will host a free monarch butterfly program at 6 p.m. Aug. 29.  Discover the life cycle of the butterflies and ways people can contribute to their conservation efforts. Program is suitable for adults, teens and middle schoolers who are accompanied by an adult. Program is free but registration is required by calling 330-868-4101, or signing up on the calendar at www.minervalibrary.info . Program will be presented by Kristine Hunt.

    ALLIANCE PLANNING – City of Alliance Planning Commission will meet at 4:33 p.m. Sept. 18 in the second-floor conference room of the City Administration Building, 504 E. Main St. Topic of the meeting will be discussion of a conditional use permit for a dual-use cannabis dispensary to be located at 2160 W. State St. in Alliance. The request was submitted by PATH.

    SQUARE DANCE – The Niles Friendly Squares will celebrate its 14th anniversary at its monthly square dance from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 14at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St. Dress is casual, and there is a $7 per person donation at the door. Gene Hammond and Neil Harner will be the callers. The new year of weekly square dance lessons will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 10. Each lesson builds upon the previous session and will include learning new steps along with plenty of review and practice each week to help attendees master the moves. The Tuesday evening sessions will run weekly through April at the Niles SCOPE Center. Fee is $6 per person per lesson. The Friendly Squares will perform a demonstration from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Canfield Fair.     MARLBORO TRUSTEES – Marlboro Township trustees’ next meeting will be 8 a.m. Sept. 2 at Marlboro Town Hall. Note change in time due to the Labor Day holiday.

    JENNA BUSH HAGER TO SPEAK – Stark County Library will play host to Jenna Bush Hager, the daughter of President George W. Bush and an anchor on NBC’s “Today” show, will speak Oct. 24 in the kickoff event of the 10 th season of the Dr. Audrey Lavin Speaking of Books Author Series at the Canton Palace Theater in Canton. Free tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 8 a.m. Sept. 5 at starklibrary.org. Those interested also can purchase $75 “gold” tickets that include reserved, premium seating, a signed copy of Hagar’s book “Everything Beautiful in its Time,” and a meet and greet with Hagar after her talk.

    SEBRING COUNCIL – Sebring Village Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers. Among items to be discussed are an ordinance authorizing the establishment of a special fund called the “Credit Memo Clearing Fund”; and an ordinance authorizing the village manager to purchase a generator and transfer switch for the water department.
