Alliance, Carrollton schools to battle for Goodwill donations

Alliance High School and Carrollton High School will compete next week both on the football field and for the title in a donation drive for Goodwill.

While the Aviators and Warriors will play at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Carroll County school, the schools’ students and community members can contribute items to help their favorite school win a donation contest.

This will be the second year for the contest. Carrollton High won the event in 2023.

The school with the most donations collected between Sept. 30 to Oct. 4 will win a $250 scholarship. The other school will receive $100.

Goodwill donation trailers will be located next week at each school from Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and 7 a.m. to noon on Friday.

All donations to Goodwill are sold in the agency’s retail stores and support employment programs for people in the community with disabilities or other barriers.

Goodwill said it particularly is seeking these items – clothing, shoes, purses, electronics, pots and pans, seasonal décor, small appliances, kitchen gadgets and furniture that weighs less than 25 pounds.
