    WOLF LECTURE – University of Mount Union’s Wolf Lecture will feature Courtney (Gazda ‘12) Nurre at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 in Presser Recital Hall of Cope Music Hall. Nurre is director of learning programs at The Cleveland Orchestra. She earned a bachelor's degree in music education at Mount Union and a master of art administration from the University of Akron. Tickets are free, though required.     ALLIANCE CIVIL SERVICE – Alliance Civil Service Commission will meet at 12:15 p.m. Thursday in the City Administration Building, 504 E. Main St., second-floor conference room. Purpose of the meeting is to certify the lieutenant’s exam results.

    ALLIANCE FINANCE – Alliance City Council’s Finance Committee will meet at 5:20 p.m. Oct. 7 at Alliance Municipal Courthouse, 470 E. Market St. Purpose of the meeting is to discuss the City of Alliance’s 2024 budget process, ARPA balance and projects, and fiscal watch.

    ALLIANCE PLANNING – Alliance City Planning Commission plans a public hearing at 4:33 p.m. Oct. 16 in the second-floor conference room of the City Administration Building, 504 E. Main St. Among items to be discussed are a conditional use permit for a drive-thru at a cannabis dispensary to be located at 2160 W. State St. in Alliance, submitted by Hettler Largent Engineers.

    ALLIANCE ZONING – City of Alliance’s Board of Zoning Appeals has canceled its Oct. 15 meeting.

    MOUNT UNION EXHIBIT – University of Mount Union plans its annual faculty art exhibit beginning Oct. 3 at the Sally Otto Gallery. The exhibit features work by Adelina Cooper, Margo Miller, Nick Muffet and Michael Schmidt. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will run through Nov. 3.     KNOX TRUSTEES – Knox Township trustees plan a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at 2895 Knox School Road. Trustees will convene at 6:45 p.m. to review bills.

    TRICK-OR-TREAT FOR TURKEYS – Sebring McKinley High School’s Ecology Club will go out into the community for its annual “Trick or Treat for Turkeys” fundraising campaign. The students will go out from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 27. Every year, the club trick-or-treats for money during the Halloween season. The money is used to purchase food baskets to pass out to families during the upcoming holidays. The students will have a signed letter from the school verifying they are from the school.
