Students in Jana Clark’s Food and Nutrition classes at Andalusia High School recently participated in the ServSafe Manager Training Program.

ServSafe is a national food safety program recognized by the National Restaurant Association.

“ServSafe is a difficult exam to pass, so this is quite an accomplishment for these students. The ServSafe certificate can help them obtain a part-time job in the food and restaurant industry. They worked very hard to obtain these credentials, and we are proud of each one of them,” Clark said.

A total of 13 students passed the exam and received a ServSafe certificate that is valid for five years. Students from Clark’s second and fourth blocks who obtained their credentials are Gabe Bracewell, Parker Bracewell, George Brooks, Alden Carter, Elicia Figueroa, Xander Hare, Makaylin Howard, Kellan McClure, Joeann Owens, Evelyn Phinney, Bailee Shreve, Autori Toney, and Ethan Townsend.

The food and nutrition classes are a component of the family and consumer sciences program at Andalusia High School taught by Clark.
