Three-vehicle crash in Covington County Sunday morning results in three deaths

A multi-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Covington County resulted in the death of three people.

The crash occurred Sunday, April 21, at approximately 9:45 a.m. on U.S. Hwy. 29, near the 34-mile marker, approximately 7 miles south of the Andalusia city limits.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the incident began when a 2015 Ford F150, driving by John P. Kiley, 60, of Milton, Florida, struck a 2022 Honda Passport driven by Mary F. Fouts, 80, of Memphis, Tennessee. After the initial collision, the Ford then collided head-on with a Hyundai Genesis driven by Evelyn S. Hnott, 89, of Hendersonville, Tennessee. Linda J. Alkasem, 65, and Deborah B. Wall, 67, both of Hendersonville, were passengers in the Hyundai Genesis.

All of those inside the Hyundai Genesis — Hnott, Alkasem, and Wall — were fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Kiley was injured and transported to Andalusia Health for medical treatment.

Fouts, driving the Honda Passport, was not injured.

Nothing further is available as troopers with the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
