The summer food program is a great service offered to those who truly need it. However the majority of students at schools who get free lunch throw out uotouched trays of food along with unopened milk. This is a waste and should not be tolerated. Just because it’s free doesn’t mean get it and throw it away. Yes there are posters in the lunchroom indicating healthy foods the food isn’t healthy if not eaten. I do hope there will be some monitoring of the summer programs in relation to discarding good food.
