Some Covington County voters will go to their polling places again on Tuesday, April 16, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to determine the winners in three local runoffs.

In the runoff for Covington County Commission, Dist. 2, Steven King faces Robbie Weaver.

For Covington County Commissioner Dist. 3, voters will decide between incumbent Lynne Holmes and challenger Jimmy Grissett.

The third race will appear on ballots within its district only and is for Covington County Board of Education, Place 2 with incumbent James “Jimmy” Rodgers facing challenger Jed Blackwell.

According to Alabama Act 2017-340, Section 2(a), beginning August 1, 2017, if an elector votes in a primary election, he or she may vote in a subsequent primary runoff election only if he or she voted in the primary election of the same political party for which the runoff election is being held. Persons who did not vote in a primary election may choose either party’s ballot in the subsequent primary runoff election. The crossover voting rule starts over with each election cycle and only applies to Primary Elections and Primary Runoff Elections. The crossover voting rule does not apply to a General Election.
