Major change announced for how Social Security disability eligibility is determined
The Social Security Administration announced last month it has changed the way it evaluates the work history of people applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and the Supplemental Security (SSI) benefits because of a disability. Starting on June 22, applicants no longer need to recall the previous 15 years of employment and can now simply list the previous five years of employment.
Man fatally shot after breaking into ex-girlfriend’s home with axe
ORION TOWNSHIP, MI – A man was fatally shot after using an axe to break into a home in search of his ex-girlfriend, police said. Galen Gavitt, 67, of Unionville, was fatally shot by the woman’s adult stepson as he advanced on her with a gun in hand, according to a news release from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. The 62-year-old woman and her stepson were not injured.

ANN ARBOR, MI — A new link across the Huron River just north of downtown Ann Arbor — envisioned by a city task force over a decade ago — is finally becoming a reality.
