Man accused of shooting brother with pellet gun pleads to manslaughter
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI - An Ypsilanti Township man accused of fatally shooting his brother with a pellet gun has pleaded to manslaughter. On the day his jury trial was set to begin, Steven Michael Harris instead pleaded to no contest to one count of manslaughter in the 2022 death of his brother.
Michigan teen loses control of motorcycle, falls from top of parking garage
BIRMINGHAM, MI – An 18-year-old man was severely injured after he lost control of a motorcycle and crashed off the top of a parking structure in Metro Detroit. According to the Birmingham Police Department, the incident occurred near a parking structure on Park Street at 6:19 p.m. on July 12.

Man, 22, arrested, accused of robbing Brighton hotel
LIVINGSTON COUNTY, MI – A 22-year-old has been arrested for robbing a Brighton hotel early Monday morning. Brighton police arrested the Howell man around 4:15 p.m. July 15 for allegedly robbing Hampton Inn Suites, 8068 Challis Road, in Brighton earlier that day. He was arrested without incident and lodged at the Livingston County Jail, police said.

$1M grant approved for construction of new Pittsfield Township park
PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI -- A recently approved $1-million grant will help bring a new park to Pittsfield Township. The grant was approved for the proposed Oak Valley Park through a state budget appropriation as a result of the efforts of state and local elected officials. Free state park access for veterans fails to make Michigan budget
A proposal to give veterans free access to state parks failed to make Michigan’s budget. The initiative would’ve been funded by changing how Michigan residents each year renew their state recreation passport, which grants vehicle access to 103 state parks along with boat launches and other state-managed recreation facilities.
Michigan gymnast reaches new heights by making USA Olympic team
Michigan’s Paul Juda was on the fringe entering the United States men’s gymnastics Olympic trials June 27 and 29 in Minneapolis. The Deerfield, Illinois native picked a good time to have the meet of his life. He accomplished what he set out to do during the two-day event with zero falls and hitting all his routines. Juda finished fourth in the all-round and top-five in four events: floor (second), pommel horse (third), vault (fourth), and high bar (fifth). His Olympic dream was now left in the hands of the selection committee, who used an algorithm based on scores from the U.S. Championships and Olympic trials to determine the five members and two alternates who will represent the U.S. in Paris July 26-Aug. 11.
